Our ESL (English as a Second Language) courses cover grammar, reading, writing, listening, and speaking. The classes are designed to meet the needs of individuals who wish to improve their English skills for academic, personal, or professional reasons. To accommodate each student's English language level, we offer five different levels of ESL from Beginning to Advanced.

* Grammar: Our grammar class helps students better understand and use grammatical structures in English. This class focuses on both oral and written usage of English grammar.

* Reading & Writing: Cal America’s reading & writing class helps students gain the skills and vocabulary needed to read and write in English, both academically and for general purposes.

* Listening & Speaking: Our listening & speaking courses enable students to develop the listening and speaking skills needed for academic and day-to-day conversation.

TOEFL IBT / IELTS

Our TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) IBT/IELTS (International English Language Testing System) preparation course is designed for advanced students who plan to pursue higher education in the United States or work in an English speaking country. Most colleges, universities, and other fine institutions require TOEFL scores in order to determine English proficiency and fluency prior to acceptance. The IELTS score is often required by many employers in order to fast track a working visa and is also used by many institutions as a substitute for a TOEFL score. This is a comprehensive course that covers both tests and includes grammar, writing, speaking, pronunciation, articulation, stress, intonation, reading, listening, and essential vocabulary. Our instructors also provide test-taking strategies which help the students improve their scores. We employ intensive, updated techniques so our students can receive extraordinary results.

BUSINESS ENGLISH

This course focuses on developing students' skills in the key areas of business communication. The students will learn about cross-cultural socializing in business environments; communicating via the telephone including setting up appointments as well as problem solving and overcoming language barriers; presentation techniques; making meetings productive; developing strategies and negotiating in English. The students will improve their skills in grammar, vocabulary, reading, writing, listening, and speaking.

ESL plus DANCE

The ESL plus DANCE package allows students to take Cal America's ESL courses during the daytime and world-famous Millennium Dance Complex's dance lessons later in the afternoon or evening. TESOL / TEFL

The TESOL (Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages) seminar has been designed as a dynamic seminar that will challenge, stimulate, and prepare students to teach English to speakers of other languages. During the intensive seminar, students are required to take a quiz, write an academic paper, and teach a minimum of six in-class practicums in front of their fellow students. The students study the most up to date methodologies and gain invaluable teaching experience. Past alumni of the seminar have gone on to careers in teaching English. This seminar is designed for students with an advanced English proficiency (minimum TOEFL IBT score of 65 or TOEIC 750 score).
